The DR438 tree spade is manufactured from high quality components with a goal to provide constant and reliable power for many years. The spades are made from heavy duty T1 steel and run off of your skidsteers hydraulic system for consistent, reliable power. During the lifting process, each spade is operated by a strong hydraulic cylinder, which helps to keep the spade in place. The Baumalight DR438 Tree Spade is a small shovel that can handle many tasks, including digging in difficult soil. The spade is 38 inches in diameter and the blade is 5/16-inch thick made out of T1 steel is incredibly strong and can handle a lot of pressure.

DR438 tree spade is easy to operate. The spade has intuitive controls that allow the operator to adjust the depth and angle of the spade to suit the task at hand. The spade has a locking mechanism that holds the tree in place. SKIDSTEER EXTENSION ADAPTOR (D005198)

Depending on your skidsteer model, the wheel base may be too close to the hoses when the DR434 tilts all the way back. If this is the case, the D005198 extension adaptor protects the hoses by pushing out the spade away from the wheel base.

HOW IT WORKS:

STEP 1

Find the new location for your tree. Position the spade at a defined direction, say North. Engage blades and scoop your hole.

STEP 2

Align the spade with the tree in the same direction chosen for the hole—in this case, North.
Open blade, move forward to position tree in the center of the dig area. Engage blades until they meet.

STEP 3

Lift the tree up and transport to the new hole. Note: In harder earth, the spades may cause glazing on the hole walls. Before the new tree is placed, this surface needs scuffing in order for the new roots to penetrate.

STEP 4

Align the shaft with the orientation of the new hole. Lower and position the tree Note: Trees become more tolerant of hot afternoon sun on one side. Changing their orientation can burn the foliage.

HOW TO BUCKET:

STEP 1

Prepare root ball.

Flatten root ball for stability. Retract the spades a little at a time in a circular motion, until approx. 6" of the root ball is exposed below spades. Using a shovel remove the excess and flatten the root ball.

STEP 2

Get basket ready.

Place your burlap liner in the wire basket and place the basket on level ground.

STEP 3

Place in Basket

Line up the root ball with basket and lower into place. Retract the spades fully, until root ball is resting in basket. Remove the tree spade leaving tree in basket.

STEP 4

Tie tree in place.

Fold in burlap and basket and tie tree into place.
